We opened as an outstation of Weymouth CAB in 1977 for 2 days a week and Bridport CAB was established in its own right in 1982.
We are an independent charity offering advice and information on any subject, including welfare benefits,
employment, consumer problems, housing issues, relationship problems, debt and legal matters.
During 2009/2010 we had 12145 contacts with clients and the number of new issues raised by clients was 10793.
All advice is provided by fully trained advisers. Our services are free, confidential,
independent and impartial and are offered to everyone regardless of race, gender, sexuality,
religion or disability.
We are affiliated to Citizens Advice, a national charity.
Supplementing our advice services, the answers to many frequently asked questions can be found at
Adviceguide, a national Citizens Advice website service giving basic advice and information on your
rights online,
The CAB is a charity which relies on a grant from West Dorset District Council and donations from Dorset
County Council, Town and Parish Councils and other organisations. We also receive donations from grateful clients.
There is a Friends of West Dorset Citizen Advice Bureaux who support us by fund raising.
